AliveCor Transforms Heart Monitor into eHealth Service

Expert Analysis and Physician Portal Make Monitoring Heart Health Easy

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. November 18, 2013AliveCor, Inc. announced today the launch of a mobile heart health service, offering expert review of ECGs (electrocardiograms) recorded through their smartphone app. Patients can share these expert reviews and their ECGs with their physicians. Physicians in turn can manage their patients through AliveCor.com, using their PC or tablet.

Expert review of ECGs is available through AliveInsightswithin the AliveECG app. Patients - or their physicians - can choose to receive on their smartphone a technical review performed by a U.S.-based Cardiac Technician, or a more in-depth clinical review from a U.S. Board-Certified Cardiologist, for a minimal fee. This 24/7 resource offers peace of mind to patients.

“AliveCor’s new integrated mobile health service offers unprecedented benefits to both patients and physicians,” said Ronald P. Karlsberg, M.D., Cedars Sinai Heart Institute, Cardiovascular Medical Group of Southern California, and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine UCLA. “This eHealth service makes it easier for physicians to manage the heart condition of their patients, wherever they and their patients are. Just as the introduction of thermometers and blood pressure cuffs in the past helped patients to monitor their health, now the ability to record one’s own electrocardiogram – and get an interpretation almost instantly - empowers the 21st Century patient to take charge of their heart health.”

“This is a major step in achieving our vision for mobile health”, said Euan Thomson, CEO and President of AliveCor. “We have a passion for mobility and communication, connecting patients and doctors with each other and with expert services wherever they are, whenever they want.”

The AliveCor Heart Monitor is the only FDA-cleared mobile ECG recorder that supports both iPhone and Android compatible smartphones. It records, displays, annotates, stores, and transfers single-channel electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythms wirelessly, using the free AliveECG app. With secure storage in the Cloud, patients can access their data confidentially anytime, anywhere, and can grant access to their physician. The Heart Monitor is available for purchase in the United States by medical professionals and patients with prescriptions.
